Randy Travis recovered his voice with AI. How his first post-stroke song was made

Randy Travis, known for classics like “Forever and Ever, Amen” and “I Told You So," gets his voice back thanks to artificial intelligence.

Travis was hospitalized with viral cardiomyopathy and had a stroke in July 2013.

In later years, the Country Music Hall of Famer had to relearn walking, spelling, and reading.

Aphasia limits his speech, but his wife Mary Travis helps him in interviews.

It's also why he hasn't released music in almost a decade until now.

Travis' deep voice enhances "What That Came From," a gorgeous acoustic ballad published Friday.

Cris Lacy, Warner Music Nashville co-president, asked Randy and Mary Travis, "What if we could take Randy's voice and recreate it using AI?"

Last Thursday, Mary Travis told The Associated Press over Zoom with Randy beaming in agreement.
