A Ja Morant pal, whom the NBA player called his "brother," was jailed for assault with bodily harm in July 2022 after a youngster sued the All-player guard and Davonte Pack for punching him.
Nine days after a warrant was issued, Pack was booked into Shelby County Jail on Wednesday.
After exchanging hard passes to check the ball in, Morant and the adolescent clashed during a pickup basketball game at his house. The child dropped his return pass and whacked Morant in the face.
Morant stated the adolescent was "going to come back and light this place up like fireworks.
" after the incident. Morant reported the boy's comment to the police, claiming familial threats.
Morant said he "swung first" but responded in self-defense because the child had thrown a basketball at his head and lifted up his pants as a show of "wanting to fight," according to the Washington Post.
He will serve a 25-game suspension starting in 2023-24 after a similar occurrence.
