Manchester United was awarded the world's most valuable football club! MLS leads the top 50 list; is it the Messi effect?

The digital content business 'Sportico' has released its list of the world's most valuable football teams

with English giant Manchester United taking the coveted top spot.

The Red Devils have attained this extraordinary distinction despite recent poor on-field performances that fall well short of the heights reached during the famous manager's tenure, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Other notable European clubs trailing closely behind include Real Madrid ($6.06 billion)

Barcelona ($5.28 billion), Liverpool ($5.11 billion), and Bayern Munich ($4.8 billion), who complete out the top five.

Real Madrid, fresh off their recent Champions League final appearance, was rated the most valuable club ahead of Manchester United in Forbes' previous ranking, which was published in May 2023.

Sportico's valuation technique is similar to that of the Forbes football rich list, since it meticulously tracks and calculates the entire value of football teams.

The revenue is divided into three categories: broadcast (domestic and international media agreements), commercial (sponsorships, advertising, corporate hospitality, catering, and non-matchday activities), and matchday (ticket sales, membership income).
