The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Phoenix Suns in four games to go to the Western Conference playoffs.

The Timberwolves' 56-24 regular season record was their best since 2003-04. For the first time since 2004, Minnesota made its third consecutive playoff berth.

The Timberwolves-Nuggets series begins Saturday.

Minnesota averaged 31.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists against the Suns led by Anthony Edwards.

Edwards scored 40 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists in the series-clinching Game 4 triumph over Phoenix.

ESPN Stats & Information says he became the second 22-year-old with 40 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in a series-clinching win, after Magic Johnson in the 1980 NBA Finals.

Minnesota won the series almost 20 years to the day of its last postseason win on April 30, 2004.

See what the world was like when the Timberwolves last made the playoffs.
