Grizzlies suspend Ja Morant after second apparent gun video emerge

The Memphis Grizzlies suspended star Ja Morant after he pretended to display a gun on Instagram Live two months after being involved in a similar incident.

"We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are gathering additional information," NBA spokesperson Mike Bass stated on Sunday.

The Grizzlies stated that the punishment is "pending league review".

This weekend, footage of Morant in a car with a companion spread on social media. At one time, the 23-year-old can be seen clutching what looks to be a gun. It's unknown whether the firearm is authentic or belongs to Morant.

The video might have serious ramifications for Morant, one of the NBA's most gifted young players.

Morant was punished by the league for eight games in March after being caught on camera flashing a gun in a Colorado strip club.

"Ja's conduct was irresponsible, reckless, and potentially very dangerous," NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated in March,

following Morant's ban. "It also has serious consequences given his enormous following and influence, particularly among young fans who look up to him."

Following his suspension, Morant apologised several times and sought counselling. He also removed his social networking accounts.
