The Cowboys are bringing Elliott back to help stabilize a running game that is virtually nonexistent since Tony Pollard left in free agency.
Rico Dowdle was slated to be the starter running back, with Deuce Vaughn and free agent addition Royce Freeman serving as backups.
Does Elliott improve this group? Just ask owner Jerry Jones, who still thinks Elliott can start in the league.
"Yes," Jones told CBS Sports' Garrett Podell Friday night, when asked if Elliott has RB1/starter potential at this point in his career.
