His family revealed Saturday that 33-year-old Darius Morris, a former Michigan star and Lakers lottery pick, died.  

A cause of death was unknown. TMZ reported Morris' body was recovered in Los Angeles Thursday. His hometown was Los Angeles.  

With great sadness we announce the passing of our dearly beloved son, Darius Aaron Morris," Morris' family informed TMZ Saturday.   

During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace."  

The Lakers drafted Morris in the second round in 2011.  

He played 132 games (17 starts) with the Lakers and four other teams in four NBA seasons, averaging 3.3 points.   

He retired in 2019-20 after playing professionally in China and France.  

The Lakers told X they were "heartbroken by the passing" of Morris.
