Budding star tabbed as top ‘trade target’ for Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies made some big additions this summer to improve their NBA Championship chances.

The big purchase of veteran guard Marcus Smart shows that GM Zach Kleiman and company want to upgrade Taylor Jenkins' roster in 2023-24.

Despite addressing key rotational and locker room problems this winter, the Grizzlies are still far from perfect, as fans and media pundits know.

However, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report feels Memphis has been linked to a player who could help them reach that title.

Grizzlies have been interested in Mikal Bridges for a while, and Michael Scotto of HoopsHype notes that the team offered four future first-round picks to the Phoenix Suns before trading him to the Brooklyn Nets in the Kevin Durant blockbuster last year.

These attempts were unsuccessful, but Buckley argues that Memphis should trade for the forward or another Atlantic Division two-way player if they still see him as a viable wing option.

Bridges, drafted 10th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, is one of the most promising young talents on both ends of the floor.

In 2022-23, he averaged 20.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and just shy of a block on 46.8 percent shooting from the field and 38.2 percent from deep.
