Aaron Rodgers will have a say in Jordan Love contract extension with Packer

Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers' careers will remain inextricably linked.

Both players were shocking first-round selections by the Green Bay Packers, who already possessed a Hall of Fame quarterback.

They each had to wait three years for a chance to start, but they both received enormous new contracts.

Due to the one-year extension they agreed to, the Packers had to wait until May 3 to sign Love to a new contract. The only remaining concerns are when Love will be paid and how much he will get.

Former sports agent Joel Corry wrote an intriguing story for CBS Sports about how much Love's new contract could be worth and why Rodgers could have a big influence.

The parallels between Love and Rodgers do not stop there. Corry points out that both players are represented by Athletes First.

"Aaron Rodgers, Love's predecessor as Packers quarterback, is likely going to loom large in negotiations of a new deal for a variety of reasons," Corry writes.

Only seven games into Rodgers' debut season as a starter, the Packers signed him to an extension. Rodgers has passed for 1,668 yards, 12 touchdowns, and four interceptions in a 4-3 start. Green Bay had seen enough.

Love began slowly, surrounded by a far less seasoned supporting cast than Rodgers inherited, but his final eight games stood out

Love completed more than 70% of his throws for 2,150 yards and 18 touchdowns, with one interception, guiding the Packers to a stunning 6-2 victory and into the playoffs.
