Aaron Rodgers Officially Signs $150M Contract Extension With Packers

Sources told Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network on Tuesday that Rodgers' new contract deal is official and signed. Later, the team made the signing public.

Last week, when Rodgers chose to go back to Green Bay, he did so with a new four-year contract extension that will make him the highest-paid NFL player per year.

Rodgers and the Packers went back and forth for a week about how the deal would be set up. In the first three years, Rodgers will make an average of $50 million per year.

Rapoport also said that the deal has two placeholders on the back end that could be changed when the salary cap comes up.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a statement, "We are very happy to be able to reach an agreement with Aaron that keeps him in Green Bay."

In 2022, Rodgers was supposed to get a base pay of $26.47 million and a salary cap of $46.664 million. This season, his pay will go up because of the new deal, and the salary cap will go down.

Pelissero says that the Packers' quarterback will make $42 million in 2022, $59.515 million in 2023, and $49.3 million in 2024.

This will put him at the $150.815 million mark over three years.
